Inside Scoop: EMU Fashionality.

I recently conducted an interview with a soror of mine (SKEE-WEE!) and Eastern Michigan University's Fashionality President, Brittni Brown for some inside information on this year's fashion show that will be taking place exactly a week from today.

Buy Any Means Necessary: How long has Fashionality been around and how long has the fashion show been going on?
Brittni Brown: Both have been in existence since 2008.

BAMN: What's your position within the organization and how long have you been apart of it?
Brittni: I am the president of the organization and director of the fashion week events. I have been a member since its founding in 2008.

BAMN: How does EMU Fashionality Fashion Week compare with other school and metro detroit area fashion shows?
Brittni:  We are the only university in the state of Michigan to produce a full fledged fashion week, that is not a school of arts or fashion. Our outside fashions show attracted more than 1,500 people in 2008, 2009 and 2010 with people from all over Michigan. We compare with other school in the Metro Detroit area because we also give opportunities to  aspiring student designers, models, photographers, hair & makeup artists that attend Eastern Michigan University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Wayne State University and Washtenaw Community College to showcase their talents and build their portfolios.

BAMN: What is this years runway show theme? And how many designers will be featured?
Brittni: This year's theme is roman numeral V, which stands for 5. We are celebrating our fifth anniversary this year and with that came the theme. Our fashion show is titled V: The Runway Experience. There are 6 designers in the show.

BAMN:  I saw that a portion of the ticket sales will be donated to The Lupus Foundation of America, Michigan & Northwest Ohio Chapter. What made you guys choose that organization?
Brittni: We choose Lupus because there are many students at Eastern that are fighting Lupus and this is a charity that does alot for those are affected and infected by Lupus. We felt that we wanted to inform people of something that doesn't get alot of attention and to open their eyes to something that they should research and help out in anyway they can.

BAMN: What other events, besides the fashion show, will fashion week include?
Brittni:
  • Monday, Oct. 8: Miss Fashionality Pageant. 7:30 p.m., Student Center Auditorium.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 9: Designer Showcase Feat:DJ BJ (3525 Clothing), Tommey Walker (CrazyDope/ Detroit Vs. Everybody), SWANK; A Posh Boutique, 10 Mile Kid from Revive, Mia Ray (Glam-Aholic), Tyna Fanciee, Fortune Clothing & Doughboy Clothing. 7 p.m., EMU Student Center Ballroom B.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 10: Masquerade Celebration, 7 p.m.,EMU Student Center room 300. Guests are encouraged to wear masks and semi-formal attire is required.

          All Free.

BAMN: Lastly, where can tickets be purchased from? As well as other information regarding fashion week and the organization?
Brittni: All EMU Ticket Box Offices on campus, EMU Student Center, EMU Convocation Center & Quirk Theatre. Tickets can also be bought on www.emutix.com.
